Here are some craft beers we got when we visited Keith’s mom a couple weekends ago. The Wheach was delicious. And I thought these made a nice picture.

Since my last post (which I know has been about two weeks), here’s what’s been going on in our world.

1) I met Tony Romo, Felix Jones and Jason Witten of the Dallas Cowboys. I got all of their autographs, and I got my photo with Tony Romo. Are you jealous? I had to take photos at a benefit for Easter Seals, and I really didn’t want to. I didn’t read the press release, but when I got inside the “VIP” reception, guests were in lines to get autographs from these three. I was instantly happy. I’m not a huge sports fan, but the Dallas Cowboys are Keith’s favorite NFL team, so it was pretty fun to call him and say, “guess what I got?” And Tony Romo really is beautiful in person, so that was a pleasure to meet him, of course.

2) Keith and I and his sister and brother-in-law raced in the Little Rock Marathon four-person relay. I ran the first leg in under an hour, and we finished as a team in under four hours. I think we ranked 35th out of about 157 relay teams. Not too shabby. My knees hurt later that day, and I was a bit sore on Monday, but overall, I felt pretty great. I can definitely do it again. Or, maybe I’ll do a half next…

This weekend:

My cousin, Amy, and her husband, Keith, are coming into town to buy a new car and celebrate her 33rd birthday. She has emailed saying that she wants to hang out tomorrow night, and I am very excited about it. I don’t see her very often, as they live about three hours from here. I think we’re going to have a great time!

Also, I bought a chocolate mint plant tonight. It smells delightful, but Lola likes the smell of it too. Let’s hope she doesn’t eat it!

Friday is my favorite

Whew! It was a long hard week, and I had way too many margaritas last night to function well at work today. Keith is watching football in the living room. Although Tony Romo is nice to look at, if I lie down on the couch, I’m sure to fall asleep. I’m feeling a bit nostalgic, so here it goes… I think these marbles are so pretty. I have two big jars full of them in our living room. When I was a kid, I used to stare up at them on their high shelf in my grandparent’s house, just longing to take them out of their jars, touch them all, and hold them up to the light. I got my wish on only one occasion. My grandmother allowed me to take down one jar and very carefully remove five marbles at a time into a shoebox. Only five, and with the utmost care. Years later, after both my grandparents had passed, my aunt gave me both jars. I’m a really sentimental person, so these jars mean a great deal to me. And, if I so desire, I can take them out anytime I want. But I’d rather just leave them sitting there looking pretty.
