Whereabouts

I last blogged more than a month ago. My bad. I mean, our bad. No major excuses this time; just a mixture of lazy, tired, and burned out.

Anyhow, Keith and I are in the throes of looking for a house. In fact, in just over an hour, we’ll be looking at six possible specimens in three possible areas. There’s one I really love from the pictures online and it’s in the area we most want to live, but it’s gonna go fast. This I know. But how are we to know if it’s “the one?” Seriously, if we really like it, we need to make an offer pronto-ish, like this week probably. Geez! It’s exciting but frightening all at the same time. If you have any first-time home buying tips, please share. It’s all happening so fast!

During my blogging vacation, I’ve also been painting a bit. I guess it’s really block printing. I find great satisfaction in carving out a print from a linoleum block. So take a look at my new block printed creation! You like?

I promise I will have more interesting posts coming soon. I just have nothing interesting to say at the moment. I’ve been working a lot and working out a lot, trying to whip myself back in shape so I can run the Little Rock Marathon relay with Keith and his sister and brother-in-law. I know I can do it, but the competitive spirit in me doesn’t want me to be the slowest leg. I know I can’t beat Keith, but we’ll see about the rest. I realize I’m being silly.

Also, I’m working on some new paintings, making bath salts, and reading The Time Traveler’s Wife. So now I’m off to read and go to bed early.

Finished, at last!

My friend Erin asked me probably about two years ago to paint  something for her kitchen area. I’m not a painter. I paint things for myself and our apartment as a hobby, but they are usually abstract and very quick projects. I don’t consider myself very good at painting realistic portraits and the few times I’ve tried, my patience have worn thin and in a matter of minutes I’ve aborted the project.

Having said all that, I’m very proud of my painting. Yes, it took me a very long time to complete, and I’m sure Erin gave up hope long ago, but I did finish it. Yay! The outcome makes me very happy. Maybe I’m turning over a new leaf and learning to be patient. Maybe.
