Resolution, numero uno

2 01 2010

I’m really not into resolutions, and to be honest, neither is Keith. There are things we’d like to accomplish and goals we’d like to set, but we never say never. There is one thing on my list, however, and it should be a simple enough goal: blog more. So here’s a blog post about nothing at all to get my 2010 blogging kicked off! I guess I could tell you about our yesterday, which was fabulous in every way…

We spent the night at the new home of our good friends’, Terry & Kailey. We woke up and made a huge breakfast with eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, hash browns and sausage. Close friends and Terry and Kailey’s family were there, and it was very nice. It was quite unlike years past when there were no kids in the equation, but nice still. Then Keith and I came home where I took a nap to the sounds of football on t.v. in the background. Seriously, I love to nap to football. There’s nothing like it. We then went hiking up Pinnacle’s east summit. The last portion of it is pure rock climbing, and it really got our heart rates up. And the view was gorgeous! We came home and made our black-eyed peas, red chard and cornbread. It was all delish and the perfect end to a great day. The swiss chard was great. Here’s the recipe. We skipped the kalamata olives. Here’s to a prosperous and healthy new year!

stories from the weekend…

8 09 2008

I’ve been really bad about posting lately. Last week it rained for two straight days, and I got a little lazy. (Gee thanks, Gustav) But Saturday turned out to be gorgeous and refreshingly cool, so Keith and I took a little hike up the East side of Pinnacle Mountain. The east side is more secluded, and much more difficult. You really have to climb to get to the top, but I love it. I definitley prefer it to the west. Of course I had my camera in tow, which made it a tad more difficult to climb. And then I saw this really cool rock that I had to have which complicated the climb even more. But we made it to the top in one piece and burned a lot of calories in the process. On our way up we also saw this interesting boulder above. The hole was full of water, and it kind of looked like a mouth. I’m not sure there wasn’t a creature living in it.

In other news, I cleaned my car out today for the first time in a very, very long time. Among the interesting things I found were:

  • my birth certificate
  • my immunization record (for college admissions)
  • Three different court records of where I had paid speeding tickets but received a lesser sentence to save my insurance
  • two warnings for speeding
  • About 20 ATM deposit envelopes
  • three pairs of socks, two of which I’m certain were dirty
  • a package of those “snakes” that you buy at the fireworks stand
  • three different containers of bubbles from weddings
  • vehicle registration and insurance from 2002
